WHILE TRAVELING TO ST JUDE, I WAS TRYING TO PREPARE MY HEART, MIND, AND EMOTIONS FOR WHAT I THOUGHT I MIGHT EXPERIENCE. I WAS WONDERING IF I COULD BE STRONG ENOUGH, BRING ENOUGH HOPE, SOMEHOW LEAVE THE CHILDREN I WOULD MEET WITH A LASTING IMPRESSION THAT EVERYTHING WILL WORKOUT FOR THEM. THE FUNNY THING WAS HOW AFTER SPENDING TIME THERE I REALIZED THAT THE CHILDREN NOT ONLY POSSESSED THOSE THINGS ALREADY BUT SHARED THEM WITH ME. ST JUDE HAS FOUND A WAY TO NOT ONLY HEAL THE PHYSICAL NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN THERE BUT INSTILL IN THEM HOPE, FAITH, AND LOVE. IT WAS BEYOND AMAZING. WHAT I EXPERIENCED THERE IS NOW APART OF ME AND ALWAYS WILL BE. I WILL SHARE THE HOPE OF THE ST JUDE FAMILY AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM IN THEIR FIGHT UNTIL THAT BUILDING BECOMES A MUSEUM.

Our experience at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was nothing short of life-changing, for me personally. As a father of a 22 month old little girl and the husband of a cancer-survivor, the mission they are on at St. Jude hit close to home, to say the least. I truly believe the research they are doing there will one day bring an end to the suffering and the epidemic of cancer. What's amazing about St. Jude is that it is completely run on donations, and the parents of the kids that go there NEVER PAY A DIME for the world-class treatment they get. Then, there are the kids themselves. They change you. They are the most inspiring fighters, and St. Jude makes sure that they continue to feel like the kids they are, not just cancer victims. I am forever changed by the kids and the people at St. Jude, and I hope every one will join me in becoming a Partner in Hope and helping St. Jude however they can.

Cancer changed my life forever... Living in what seemed to be a perfect world, with a perfect family, on a perfect little farm... for 13 years... until we unexpectedly lost my father to it within a year of diagnosis and my world has never been the same... Cancer effects everyone... It is not biased towards race, religion, color, age or financial status. That was apparent after visiting St. Jude... Around every corner of the hospital, I found myself holding back tears... these were children...
What astonished me, was discovering that no child is ever turned away from St. Jude's, regardless of ability to pay. And it is donations that make that possible... John Rich recently received the Angels Among Us award (for raising a large amount of money for St. Jude & for increasing awareness through his winning "Celebrity Apprentice") said something in his acceptance speech, that hit home with me... “You shouldn’t be getting an award for something you ought to be doing anyway..." He's right... and I am thankful I have the opportunity and the ability to help in this fight...
